specifying users in templating.cfg

In templating.cfg file, we have role_list element followed by user_list element. Now if the situation is such that only the editors and administrators need to be given access to the particular workflow and only a few editors and administrators can have the access, how to specify that in the user_list element?

If you want to restrict the workflows to only some of the users then you should use user element :-

[/HTML]

You can also use group based access i.e a user group containing the editors and administrators who should have access to template will be given access.

First - when posting questions like this - it really helps if you specify the version of TeamSite you are using -- the ability to restrict access to workflows based on groups was added in TS 6.7x - so the advice about using groups only applies if you're using that version of TS.

With respect to your question - if a user has the ability to log in with editor and administrator rights (pre-671) or has editor or administrator rights for a given branch (671x) - the does it matter?

I.e. are you trying to say that user-A can run this workflow if they are an Administrator but not if they are an Editor?

Otherwise - the user list is a union of those users who you are allowing to initiate the workflow.

You can use the role_list without the user_list.
You can use the user_list without the role_list.
You can use both the role_list and user_list.

The latter simply provides two sets of filters: (1) the user is [not] within one of the roles specified, and (2) the user is [not] within the list of users specified.
