Hi,

We recently upgraded to v8 and are still using the v7 COE for CTDs. One problem that I'm running into is functionality to obtain the current content instance from a class that implements IValidatable. We are using a Text CCE widget. The code that used to work in v7 is:

ContentInstance ci = (ContentInstance)context.get("CONTEXT_CURRENT_CONTENT_INSTANCE");

But, now on the new system, the ci is returned as null. I looked in the code and it seems that the only two parameters that seem to be getting passed are the request object and the java class name.

Anyone have any ideas on what I'm missing that's causing this to fail?

You can get the current CI from the request as follows:

PropertyPage page = PropertyUtils.getPropertyPage(request);

ContentInstance ci = (ContentInstance)page.getAttribute(COEConstants.CONTENT_INSTANCE_KEY);

Thanks for the reply Mario. Heres's what I tried:

HttpServletRequest request = (HttpServletRequest) context.get(DefaultValueDef.CONTEXT_REQUEST);

PropertyPage page = PropertyUtils.getPropertyPage(request);

It seems that the PropertyPage is null at this point. When I dumped the request attributes, it seems that the only one I get is this:

weblogic.servlet.jsp with a value of 'true'

I should have mentioned that we are running 8.0 SP2. I thought there was a patch or something that you gave me a while back for something similar to this; where it was getting many of the request attribute. But, I can't recall exactly.

P.S. It seems I don't have COEConstants.CONTENT_INSTANCE_KEY in my version of the CMA jar.

It's COE_CONTENT_INSTANCE_KEY, sorry.

It's strange that you get a null property page. Do you have any serialization exception in the BEA log ?

Do you have any extension deployed where you haven't updated the vignette system jars ?

Don't you have the latest SP installed ?

Updated the ticket you just opened and here is the info as well:

This defect is fixed in any cumulative/service pack after2011/05/11. The lastest cumulative lists this as fixed

VCM-37541 2011/05/11 Cannot specify default value for widget using custom

class in 8.0 workspace UI
