VCM and Portal Integrations through CMA API

Hello All 

I am trying to get all the approved contents through ContentinstanceDB Query (VCM API)

And I am trying pass the Channel Information and get the content instance Information. 

Currently I am looking how to call this JSP from my home Page Style . JSP so that this VCM is rendered like we do in DPM. Need to understand end to end understanding.

Secondly I am removing the Override Sql I had in DPM Query Component to VCM Component DB Query. What are the steps I should follow to remove the existing DPM Query component as well.

If you will, please create a separate post under Content/DPM forum for feedback on removing a DPM Query component.

I believe I understand what you are asking for with regards to calling a Content API JSP from Portal style.  That can be accomplished by placing the JSP under your templating application, calling it from an instance of Content Publisher portlet using a JSP Override and Region, then embeding that portlet in your style.



1.  Create JSP and define Region Name and override URI.


    a)  Create a JSP containing Content (WEM/VCM/DPM) API and place under your
        templating application.

            ex: <DEPLOYED_TEMPLATING_CONTEXT>/path/to/your/file.jsp


    b)  From the Site Console, create an instance of the Content Publisher
        Portlet.  Permission this portlet so that it is viewable.  Note that
        the Portlet you create will have a friendlyID under the Portlet Basics
        tab.  That will be required later when embedding the portlet in a Style.


    c)  Edit the Portlet created in step 1.b, defining the Region Name and
        JSP Override URI under the Details tab.  The Override URI is relative
        to the templating application context root.

              Name: <REGION_NAME>
              JSP Override URI: /path/to/your/file.jsp



2.  Embed the portlet in your Style.


    a)  Determine current Theme from Site or Server Console.  The Site theme
        overrides the Server Console default.

        i.  Server Console ->
              Server Settings ->
                Server Defaults ->
                  Site & Appearance ->
                    Default Theme & Grid:

        ii. Site Console ->
              Site Settings ->
                Appearance ->
                  Registered User Appearance:
                  Guest User Appearance:


    b)  Duplicate your Style.

        i.  Determine the Style associated with the corresponding Style Type
            (Header, Footer, "my home Page", ..) used by the Theme.

                Server Console ->
                  Components ->
                    Themes ->
                      Title: <THEME_NAME> ->
                        Associated Styles ->
                          Style Type: <STYLE_TYPE_NAME>


        ii. Duplicate that specific Style from the Server Console.

                Server Console ->
                  Components ->
                    Styles ->
                      Style List ->
                        Title: <STYLE_NAME>
                        [check-box]
                        [drop-down] Duplicate
                        [button] Do It


    c)  Edit Theme to use the duplicated Style for the corresponding Style
        Type.

            Server Console ->
              Components ->
                Themes ->
                  Title: <THEME_NAME> ->
                    Associated Styles ->
                      Style Type: <STYLE_TYPE_NAME>
                      Use Style: [drop-down] <DUPLICATED_STYLE_NAME>
                      [button] Update


    d)  Edit the primary file for the Header Style duplicated/created in step
        2.b to embed the portlet created in step 1.b.


            i.  Download the Primary File.

                    Server Console ->
                      Components ->
                        Styles ->
                          Style List ->
                            Title: <STYLE_NAME> ->
                              Support Files ->
                                Primary File: Download [link]


            ii. Add the renderPortlet tag using Portlet friendlyID
                (PORTLET_FRIENDLY_ID) from step 1.b.

                    <%@ taglib uri="vgn-tags" prefix="vgn-portal" %>
                    <%-- Display DPM Content Publisher Portlet --%>
                    <vgn-portal:renderPortlet portletFriendlyID="<PORTLET_FRIENDLY_ID>">

            iii. Save and upload the edited primary file.

                    Server Console ->
                      Components ->
                        Styles ->
                          Style List ->
                            Title: <STYLE_NAME> ->
                              Support Files
                                Primary File: Upload New... [link]
