Callout Question - dynamic url string

On my DCT I have three fields that capture various pieces of information, lets say it's as follows:

Field 1: abc

Field 2: def

Field 3 ghi

I also have a text filed that has a callout button associated with it that will be used to capture additional information that is based on the information in Field 1, Field2 and Field 3 (See url string below):

url="http://myserver/metadataForm.cfm?vpath=/abc/def/ghi"

Is there a way, some event handler, that the url string can be created based on the data in field 1, field 2 and field 3? I know I can have a handler in my javascript that will be called when the button is clicked, but how can I set a variable in js and pass it back to the dct for use as the url string? Is this even possible.

Make it a 2 step process.

define your callout

[html]

<callout label="Click Here" />

[/html]

then use something like

IWEventRegistry.addItemHandler("/Root/Button","onCallout", goToURL);

function goToURL(item)
{
//insert your callout here
}
