Page Templates in WEM 8.1 - Default Channel field

Before upgrading to WEM 8.1, the Vignette Application Builder views, after clicking into another builder view, would retain the vcm channel navigation component. After the upgrade, once I click past the first Builder view, I lose the navigation component, which uses WEM channels.

In the past, as long as I filled out the Default VCM Channel within the Presentation Template, (which connects to the portal site/portal page) with the navigation path, the navigation component would appear after clicking into the builder views, refreshing the page.

How do we retain the WEM navigation components throughout multiple views using Builder app in a Builder Portlet on the Portal side, now that we have upgraded?

Hi Lori,

Is the problem also happening with other portlets (DPM or any other portlet type), for instance when you minimize or maximize the portlet on that specific page? Or is it only when performing actions from within the Builder portlets? The VCM context resolution should work the same as long as you stay on a portal page with that menu item your VCM template is pointing at.

No it doesn't happen with the DPM Portlets. I'm only finding it happen with the OOTB Builder portlet. And it is happening only with the VCM navigation component. Initial view of the channel shows navigation component, it's only when I start interacting inside the builder app that I lose the navigation component. Could it be something missing within the Horizontal Nav jsp, or the cache on subsequent views?

We build the navigation component by first creating a Content Publisher Portlet 2.0, that then calls the navigation style (jsp). Files attached.

Hello,

Just an update, we are finding this issue with some other portlets as well, namely the Today's Poll Portlet and the Suggestion Box Portlet. Both have their own Page Templates that point to the Default Channel. Both portlets are also not retaining the navigation components when clicking within the portlet, say clicking on the View Suggestions link.

Is this a bug? Should I ticket be opened?

Hi Lori,

I don’t think it’s a bug as it’s working on other WEM8.1/DPM configurations. Can you please copy the URL for which the DPM context is resolved correctly, then the URL after the first portlet click that results in the DPM context not to be resolved anymore? Also, can you please try addinglegacy.rendering=true in the VgnExtTemplating resource bundle and see if that makes any difference?

Sounds like a good candidate for a support ticket indeed!
