Disk space usage question

Hi,

1) 'Soft Delete'
When an asset OR an asset-revision is deleted from the MediaBin user interface (or the back-end APIs), is the delete a "soft" delete?
I ask because before using MediaBin we used 1TB of storage for our media files, after ingest into MediaBin and annotation with Metadata, we are now using 3TB of storage -- how is this possible?

2) Metadata and revisions of assets
I notice that when we add metadata to an asset that we are creating a new revision; however, we aren't actually changing the underlying image -- does MediaBin make a copy of the underlying image when a new revision is created that doesn't change the image data itself (i.e. only metadata changes)?
