Portal 81 installation not successful

hi,

I am tried auto install portal 81(portal_8.1_win32.exe) on windows vista with oracle 11 and tomcat 6. But, installation is not successful and when I verify the database, tables are not created.

Please find the installation log file.

I've seen the same problem in one of my recent installs of 8.2. Which database are you installing against and are you sure that your credentials are correct? Check your properties.txt file for:

'default.db.user='

'default.db.password='

Also check your 'default.db.url='

In a recent MSSQL install, I removed everything in the connection string after databasename='$database_name', ran the tabel_installer.sh script in $PORTAL_HOME/bin, and then rebootstrapped by copying all files from $PORTAL_HOME/system/bootstrap into $PORTAL_HOME/deployment/upload.

Restart Portal, wait for the login prompt to appear for the server console('http://<server>:<port>/portal/console), then restart again. You must restart twice as some of the .car files contain other .car files that the classloader will not be aware of until the second restart.

As it's oracle, don't mess with the connection string. Just verify that it is correct. Pick up where you run the table_installer script. If the table_installer script fails, we'll know something more serious is wrong.
