Workflow manual activity output validation

For a manual activity if an output was added and type is STRING, on the console this task output would be a text field.

If no data is entered in the text field and the Finish Task is clicked then a validation pop up appear with a message stating that required output was missing. Essentially making all STRING output in a manual task "required" fields. Any way to either disable the validation on Finish Task click or any way to auto assign an empty string or a space?

I’m afraid you can’t assign a default value to outputs, like you can inputs, in the workflow modeler/xpdl. (Although it’s possible that the underlying engine (pws) may allow that, so it may not be a difficult enhancement to the xpdl.) So, I’m not aware of a workflow layer solution.

I suppose there are UI layer solutions, such as task editor customization, if only to override the “Finish” action.
