problem getting formapi example to work

I am trying to implement the location user script example from the formapi documentation. I have 2 issues:

1) The documentation does not include the ipl (getLocations.ipl).

2) I am not the administrator of TeamSite. I am one of many developers from different government agencies that access the state's implementation. So, I don't have access to the normal placement of ipl. (The manual says: Copy the getLocations.ipl to iw-home/httpd/iw-bin.) So, once I get a copy of this ipl, I need to know how I can refer to this file if I place it in the same folder as my dct. I don't understand the path/virtual path with regards to this. For callserver, the manual says:

IWDatacapture.callServer("http://"+server+"/iw-bin/getLocations.cgi",
params);

Here is the file path to where I want to place the ipl:

/default/main/DCS/Internet/WORKAREA/DCS/templatedata/Custom_Templates_DCS/dcs_trg_home

For the "getLocations" code look into "/iwhome/examples/Templating/templatedata/userscript/location" Folder.

Call Server Syntax you've mentioned is not so much incorrect as not portable (I know, I know... It's in the manual, etc)
Use IWDatacapture.callServer("/iw-bin/getLocations.cgi", params); instead. In this form request protocol, port and domain
are *inherited* from the DC Form, whatever it happened to be.

As to the CGI location, there is nothing you can do about that. It must be a subdirectory of /iwhome/httpd/iw-bin, that's how
TS Apache Server is configured. The best you can do IMO is to request your Administrators to promote what you need there.

Whoever administrates your box needs to set up a config branch. Basically something that will allow developers to edit files destined for iw-home, saving submit and deploy them to iw-home. If this is a dev server, then this should not require approval. production servers need more restrictions.

I have worked in the environment where I have had to beg an admin to copy files over to test. It is impossible to get anything accomplished. One project that should have taken a few days went off and on for over a month because of change file, email admin, email admin again, finally test, oh a mistake, start at step 1 again.
