MediaBin Exchange/Outlook Integration

I am trying to get the new Exchange/Outlook integration in MB 4.6.2 working but no luck. I am hoping someone who has tried it and has it working successfully will be able to shed some light.

All I found in the docs and on support site is that we just need to make one change in global.asa and things should be working. Alas!!

The setting in global.asa is:

Application("EXCHANGE_SERVER") = "http://webmail.interwoven.com/exchange/"

Multiple things here:

I have yet to see an exchange server set up with http protocol and not https. May be it should be mentioned here that https might be the right one
The forward slash at the end of the setting (and word exchange) is critical. I found this by digging through the web client code. May a mention of this also in the docs or support site article will be helpful
The best part of the 3+ hrs that I spent de-bugging this is the error message. There isn't one. No matter what mistakes you have in your settings all it says is that there were no contacts found in the GAL. May be something more intuitive will help

Then comes the other part about the numerous ways in which the exchange server can be set up. At my client, when you login to outlook the credentials are in the following format:

interwoven\jdoe

But then the URL which this translates to is:

https://webmail.interwoven.com/exchange/jane.doe

and not

https://webmail.interwoven.com/exchange/jdoe

which the MB web client code is looking for.

I am opening a support case to get in line but I am positive that in this client setting this integration is no good.

Does this mean that the integration won't work for Exchange servers that mandate the use of https protocol?

I am facing the same issues mentioned above, hoping to find a resolution.

No responses from IWOV on this one. I have found my own solution for this and have been able to get it working in a much cleaner way. PM me and I can give you an outline of the solution.

Hi,

MediaBin doesn't support outlook integration over HTTPS as of the release date though there was an Enhancement request raised later the release.

Enabling the userid@companyname.com in one of your SMTP email addresses in Active Directory will fix the issue with the URL "http://webmail.companyname.com/exchange/firstname.lastname", as MediaBin expects the "username" in the URL instead of "firstname.lastname".

I agree the slash is important, but the word "exchange" is not. Its not a part of the URL path for our example. The word has to significance.

I'm looking into the "https" issue, will update you soon.
