How to use SitePublisher

When I want to use TeamSite, I can just type in the url and I can log on to the TeamSite.
How can I use SitePublisher ? Do I just need to type in the url ? It should direct me to the page where I can test diffrent components, right ?
Is that the way it works or is it something different ?
This is the first time, I am using SitePublisher and thats why I am facing basic difficulties.
Please also explain, will it be the same url like the one I use to access TeamSite or the different one ? If its different, then does it need to be provided to me or its there as a link in teamsite ?

you need training.

That being said, SP is integrated with TS. So if everything works, you will see a SP menu along the top menus of TeamSite. You (may) also see a tab called SiteMap.

SP, integrated with LS, is WYSIWYG. So if you have a valid .page file, you can click on it to preview. There should be a SCE bar, which you can click edit on. Then you can change or add components to your hearts content.

SitePublisher is an integrated module of TS. You access it directly from TS. One of the way's SitePublisher module's one of the many functionality gets invoked is when you do "File > New Page" (assuming you have a site setup).

Please read the SitePublisher User Guide for more details :-)

I dont see sitemap tab on teamsite screen. But there are few .page files in a folder. But nothing happens when I click on the .page file.
Do I need to generate the HTML page ?
I dont see generate or preview tab on the screen. How to get to the preview page and test some components ?
Is it must to have a Sitemap tab, if SitePublisher is installed ? As my screen does not have sitemap tab. But when I check properties of .page file, I see
"TeamSite/LiveSite/Type:".
So what shall I understand from this ? Is SitePublisher installed ? Is Livesite installed ? How to view .page in order to edit it ?

Yes, I can see File > New Site option.

As a master I get the Site Publisher menu (next to Actions) and Site Map tab next to Administration.

File -> new site or File -> new page - do either exist ? They may be greyed out.

LS runtime is automatically installed with SP. SP is automatically installed if you have done everything exactly right during the TS install. :rolleyes:

Is new page grey ? Then you need to define a site first. Start reading the manuals.

I am logged in as master, but I can not see SitePublisher besides Actions nor Site Map next to Administration.
"File > New Site" is coming up, but "File > New Page" is greyed out.

Does it mean that I can not check even existing .page file ? This another collegue was able to edit some page. I dont know how did he get there. He is not around.
Can you give idea on what to do ? I did read through the manuals, that was very helpful and I understand overall concepts. But I am facing some trouble with starting. I am confused with tabs and how to navigate to the pages.

When you tried it what was your current directory?

I would recommend going to through the SP User and (parts if not the entire) Dev guide.

What do you mean by "what was your current directory" ? Its the same directory where .page files are stored.

What role do you have ? I log in as a master & get the menu.

The manual does not specify when you see it or not.

If you are logging as master then you should be able to see the SitePublisher menu in Content tab and Site Map tab.
You can check installation details by clicking on About (top right corner) -> Details.
It will show the complete installation details of Teamsite Modules. Check the SitePublisher and LiveSite is there in the list.

I guess installation file is missing or is deleted. So how to find the information about SitePublisher and LiveSite is installed or not ?

Apart from this, how is SitePublisher is integrated with existing website ?

It is not a simple thing to make you understand at this level. It depends how much you have experience with TS and SP. Do you have prior implementation experience of implementing a site with TS?

If you have earlier exposure then go the through SP/LS docs and come with relative questions. Otherwise go for training or hire some one.
