Localizing Content Types Attributes V8.1

Hello,

Followed the directions described in Extensibility SDK 8.1 Development guide. Added resource bundle to jar - 3 files (contenttypes_ja_JP.properties and contentype_ta_IN.properties. Deployed jar, add the startup parms -Dcom.vignette.ui.ctMsgBundle=com.prudential.locale.contenttype. I also added the proper attribute information (<contentTypeXMLName>.<attributeXMLName>.name) in each property file. Changed my browser language to Japanese[ja-JP] but I still see everything in English. However, when I went to the application console everything was in Japanese - where I don't want it. Does anyone know where I can look at a sample app so I can see what I missed to do?

Hi Annie, do you have the properties files in a /com/prudential/locale/contenttype folder in your JAR file?

No, my files are in com/prudential/locale. Followed directions in step 3:

3. Set system property com.vignette.ui.ctMsgBundle to the base name (and package) of the resource bundle(s) to use. For instance, if you have all your messages in:

com.company.myMsgs (such as for myMsgs.properties and/or myMsgs_jp.properties)
You would add:
-Dcom.vignette.ui.ctMsgBundle=com.company.myMsgs

I have some good news though, I actually go it to work when I changed the preferred locale in the preference page in Content Workspaces.

But, according to the documention, it says this:

A localized version of the user interface will automatically appear to your end user based on the Locale setting of the end user’s browser or the personal preferred Locale setting in Content Workspaces. If a localized version of the properties files is not available, the English version will be presented.

I would rather have it work changing the Locale setting in the browser.

Do you know if this works?

Yes, it should work and it’s what I’m observing on my configs . E.g in the config below, the user doesn’t have preferences set in WEM, hence it’s the browser locale that gets used to resolve which bundles to use.

Hi,

Couldn't see what you copied into reply. Maybe you can email it to me?

Wonder why it is not working for me? I am using ie 8 - I went into Tools.Internet Options.languages. For some reason, it is only looking at my preferred locale in my preferences.

Is there anything I need to configure in order for to look at browser locale instead?
