Hi There,

We are in the proccess of setting up a new UAT UNIX box.

We are planning to move the iw-store from old UAT to new UAT UNIX box, now the questions:

1. Will the files in the WORKAREA of new UAT box retain the 'SUBMIT' status?
2. Will the submitted files in the iw-store of old UAT turn to un-submitted i the new UAT after the iw-store move?

Kindly advice.

yes they should remain submitted on the new box too. We have done some thing similar to this and we do see our files in Staging.

NOTE: Make sure you stop (not freeze) the iwserver process on the first box before making a copy of it to your new box.

It this just to ensure no one continues to use the old box?
We transfer/backup/restore frozen backing stores frequently and have never had issues.

Well, on Windows, if you just freeze and try to copy the store, you're likely to get a bunch of errors in the copy due to files still held open by the server process - not to mention that you'll get a copy of the TSrunning file - which will make TS on the new server think that there's already a TS server process running when there isn't - it's basically just "better" to do it this way as it avoids a lot of potential issues.

Of course, if you're using a SAN / NAS - like a NetApps box (or Solaris 10 I believe) that has snapshot capabilities, you can shut TS down, get a snapshot and bring TS back up in a little over the time it takes the shut down and start up processes - and then go on your merry way copying the data from the snapshot.
