Reg My Pages migration from portal v7.4 to v8.x

  Hi,

     I have a question regarding the migration of My Pages in portal :

 We are planning to migrate the Portal from v 7.4 to v 8.X , and would like to know the general procedure to migrate  user's portlet instances from MyPages? 

 Whether the exporting & Importing of 'MetaStore' helps to get the user preferences onto  target environment ??

 

Any help would be highly appeciated.

Hello Santosh,

The portlets which you add to the created 'My Pages' are those from the Portal Server.
If a portlet has been added to My Pages, and if later the category to which that portlet belongs is no longer available to My Pages, that portlet will remain on My Pages until the user removes the portlet. Also, the only way a site administrator could remove a portlet from a user’s My Pages is to disable the portlet for the user group to which the user belongs. So just export/import the sites and other components from source version of VAP to target version and that should serve the purpose.

P.S : Pages 41 and 42 of 'Vignette_Portal_8.0_Administrator_s_Guide' document speak the same.
