installation woes

I'm right now stuck on SP installation, but from a previous trial run I had the same problem with both SP and LS installations. I have a case open with Support, but I wanted to "expand the net" a bit to see if anyone else has ideas.

Environment

Anyone else have this experience? If so, did you manage to resolve it? If so - how???(If I get this resolved through Support, I'll try to remember to post details)

Did the install complete? Are the SP menus on CC_pro ?

I fumbled through the install about 5 times before my install worked. I will see if I can remember what the magic trick was. But in my case SP always bypassed.

No - I have not completed the installation - I believe I indicated as much in my post. I'm stuck at the point where the installer is attempting to connect to the database (presumably to validate the information I just provided) - and failing to do so.
The database is there.
I believe I'm providing the correct information.

I have made liberal use of the proceed anyway command. Usually without an issue.

Try it and it all heck breaks loose, restore your old VM. Trust me I have done that a lot (most recently trying and failing to extend the disk on my Linux VM)

As I said, I'd like to avoid that - so I'll probably wait for Support to get back to me either Friday or Monday (my request for those days)

The only error in the GUI is:[indent]Unable to load the specified database driver libraries. Please make
sure that the specified directory is correct and contains the
necessary library files.[/indent]The directory specified was:

C:\Microsoft SQL Server JDBC Driver 2.0\sqljdbc_2.0\enu

In which is

sqljdbc.jar

No logfiles have been written out into the IWHOME/install directory yet.

Have you tried to specify something like "C:\Micros~1\sqljdbc_2.0\enu"? I do not know if that will help but it seems worth trying in the case of spaces in the Path

Hmm - that's a reasonable idea... I'll have to try that one of these nights (tonight if I remember) as I may have to reboot / restart the installation process when I do that.

FYI - I tried with a different path for the sqljdbc.jar file - one that did not have spaces in the path - and it still gave the same error.

I'm going to be talking with Support tomorrow (Monday) - and we'll see if we get it figured out....

I'm not sure I have all the details in detail ;-) but I believe there were several changes made while working with Support that went into resolving this [immediate] problem:

The last two appear to have been necessary, the first one may have been necessary.Anyway, I'm proceeding with my installation - 672 seemed to have completed successfully, 672SP1 seems to be having some issues with my virtual machine, but that might be a temporary hiccup.

I believe SP1 does a Sitepub/LS schema update, and the sqlupdate scripts run by the installer do not work properly. I had to run the sqlupdate scripts post install manually. Have you come to that issue?... yet?

Not yet - I stopped after getting 672SP1 installed, I still need to do the LS installation - and then I'll try to remember to check it out (hopefully I'll get to it some evening this week (it's on my personal laptop, and I'm currently working on a customer project - so it's all "after hours" stuff)
