GearUp 2009?

Did anyone else (who pre-registered) receive a phone call recently (today?) about GearUp 2009 not being a 3-day event in San Antonio, but instead being 3 distinct 1-day events - 1 each in 3 continents?

It's kind of confusing because:

If this turns into a 1-day marketing event - there's not much point in my going (let alone the fact that I was thinking about doing a presentation...).If anyone has additional information - please post - otherwise I guess I'll have to wait until after the first of the year when they're supposed to announce the new plans...

Good question. I am planning to go, I even volunteered to present agian but have not heard anything.

I did not register yet, but I cannot see it being a 1 day conference.

FYI, I sent an email to Will, so hopefully he can log on & check, I have not seen any activity from Sunil lately.

Shortly after I posted this, I got the following email:

Dear GearUp 2009 registrant:

You should have already received a voicemail, but I wanted to follow up to make sure you heard that we are adopting a new, exciting model for GearUp. Instead of a three-day conference in San Antonio, Texas, as announced, this year we’re offering GearUp as a traveling one-day event in selected cities on three continents.

We’re doing this so that we can make GearUp more convenient for our customers and, with the smaller venues, make the content more tailored to attendees. In fact, we think you will find GearUp 2009 better than ever!

We know that you are already registered for our San Antonio event, and really appreciate your early registration for GearUp. If you have already paid for GearUp, we will fully refund your current registration fee. Once our schedule is set, we will offer you a discount to attend the GearUp event nearest you.

Right now we are working fast and furiously to finalize the details and the schedule for the new approach. We expect to have that done after the first of the year. We will send out an email and update our Website with that information.

Thank you very much, again, for your early registration. You will be hearing from us very soon.

The one day is going to have to have a pretty damned good developer track to make it worth my while to travel somewhere for one day.

At the time of my writing this post, the cities have not been announced. But, if you register your interest, you'll be notified as soon as they have been determined.

This certainly makes me wonder if I should attend. I do not go for a marketing presentation but to get into the meat of the products and where they are heading.

Adam, I certainly hope you did not purchase your plane ticket already.

On a side note, I love it when I see templatedata in a URL. Smiley Very Happy
