You can try the following:
1. For pre-populating the channels/categories you can create a “QuickAction” for the respective CTD and then try to create an instance from the quickaction.
2. You can clone the contentinstance. This can be done by passing in a “cloneId” to the vui.vcm.ui.editor.edit(). The cloneId is the ID of the contentinstance to clone.
3. If you want to populate some default values for the fields, then you would need to modify the widget settings in the CTD, so that it can have default values.

For creating a new Content Instance, it is pretty much the same JS code you mentioned, except that you do not pass in an ID. When an ID is not passed it, it assumes you are trying to create a new instance.

Hi guys,
Is there one javascript at VUI framework to create new content like that bellow?
vui.vcm.ui.editor.edit({asObjectType:eval('vui.vcm.type.CONTENT_INSTANCE'),objectTypeId:'7566269f8f0e9110VgnVCM10000032a71dac____',objectTypeXmlName:'HGINTRANET_NEWS',id:'493ab592fd497310VgnVCM1000008303640aRCRD'});

Dear OpenText Engineers and Support Team,
To add some additional detail to htis post: our V7 DPM implementation relies heavily on pre-populating certain attributes of a content item such as select list box based on what part of the site a user is trying to create content (to make content contribution simpler). In V7 we pass in 4-6 fields at the time of creating a content so that content managers do not need to do this.
Example: We have a list of content items organized into categories where categories appear on the left side of the page. Every content item has a select listbox defining the category it is in. Underneath each category we list those content items that have been associated based on the category select list box and the current channel. We also include a green plus button within each category so that a content contributor can easily create a content item and have the category pre-poluated. Prior to this enhancement our 300+ content managers struggled with selecting this attribute as it is not always required.
We also pass pre-popuplated dates (date formats from non-US countries handled much easier), a business unit and department, the project the content item belongs to and the channel, and sometimes an additional category that determines which tab the content item displays on.
How do we do this in V8?
Thanks in advance.
