Basic UI label override question

Hi Folks,

This is a pretty basic UI customization question.

All I am trying to do is to re-name the "

>File, >New form entry

" menu item to "

>File, >New web page

".

After reading the doco, I notice that

<ts-home>/local/config/lib/content_center/reference/etc/conf/ref_ccpro_ui_filesys.xml

identifies this menu link as:

The doco says to do this, I need to modify

<ts-home>/local/config/lib/content_center/customer_src/etc/conf/customer/ui_custom.xml

:

"You can override an existing configuration by matching its placement in the XML DOM tree and then specifying the attributes you wish to override."

I have done this:

What I thought would be pretty easy is proving to be not-so-easy! Any pointers would be appreciated.

Just checking -- following modification of ui_custom.xml, did you rebuild the webapp (via make_toolkit.ipl)?

In all the link elements in the reference files "_iw.ccpro.create_form.link" is used solely as a refid -- not as an id. A refid is supposed to be a means to define inheritance. If a link has a refid attribute, it's supposed to inherit from the link with the id of the refid.

The funny thing is that I don't think there's actually a link defined anywhere with id="_iw.ccpro.create_form.link". At least I sure can't find it anywhere. So I'm guessing it's just some kind of reference marker for any "New Form Entry" links that doesn't really do anything. Or an oversight. This means you can't do what you want to do, at least not in the way you were trying to do it.

If you really want to change the label for "New Form Entry" links, you need to do it for each instance where there's that kind of link. For example (obviously in the context of your configuration):

The annoying part of this is that you have to do so in multiple places to account for anywhere that has a "New Form Entry" link.

Of course, if I'm wrong, then I hope someone from IW would indicate so. I welcome the correct way to do this with open arms.

The question is asked because I know that any changes made in the reference directory will not be reflected as the reference toolkit is not applied when the
web application is rebuilt.

You make your changes here:

<iw-home>/local/config/lib/content_center/customer_src/etc/conf/customer/ui_custom.xml

Apart from custom changes, you can also override default items.
