Perl v5.6 conflicts v5.8

Hi there,

We had installed Interwoven Team site (bundled with Perl 5.8) on Windows server for our in-house R & D, however on the same machine someone installed tomcat/weblogic and it has bundled Perl 5.6.

Now since newly installed software has older version of perl, all our earlier working scripts are not getting executed giving conflict error.

Can anyone provide suggestions or pointers as what could be done to overcome the issue?

Isn't this just a case of setting your path to perl correct?

So instead of call 'perl my-script.ipl' do '{iw-home}/perl/bin/perl my-script.ipl'?

(This should be considered a good-practice any way)

We had done that way as well as changed the ENV variable on the server to fetch perl only from Interwoven provided executable. Unfortunately, nothing works as expected.

Looks like it is still loading the perl modules from the 5.6 directory instead of the perl 5.8 directory. You should change it to point to the 5.8 modules library instead.

Could you please provide some input as how it can be done? As i have already tried to change the ENV variables on the server itself.

Hi,

Some extra info that could be helpfull:

1. Run 'iwperl -V'; it will give you all perl info including the current @INC (order matters here!). In normal cases this should be iwhome/iwperl/lib, .../site/lib, .../vendor/lib

2. A give help could be this: http://perltraining.com.au/tips/2005-07-22.html

3. From your screenshot one can see that it loads the correct perl modules UNTIL it searches for DynaLoader which it finds in the Oracle-library. Which is indeed v5.6.2. This is where you go wrong.

If you combine these 3 items you might be able to solve it.

did you fix your issue?
we did a TS 6.7.2 on Win2k3 install today, and ran into similar issues.

The install failed in all kinds of strange and silent ways, because there was a prior install of Perl 5.6.1.
We solved it by removing the registry settings that pointed to the older Perl.
