Queueing Deployments in workflow modeler
Natasha
Hi All,
We are using workflow model "Author Submit" for deploying the pages to Livesite run time env and web servers.
We have given an option for running the scheduled deployments wherein the user can choose the time of deployment.
The deployment which gets initiated has names like "OpenDeployWebRoot
fp3gajh2fp3gajh3
, OpenDeployWebRoot
fp3gajklfp3gajkm
. Basically, different instances of the deployment are getting called. Now the problem is when the user selects to deploy 3 different pages by running the author submit workflow and chooses the same time for deployment like 5 a.m., only 1 deployment is successful 2 are failing giving the following error :-
Receiver-ERROR: ERROR: commit-failed.
LIB: 2008-12-26 09:01:18 ERROR: Failed to deploy local_directory[.] of area[/usr/iw-home/tmp/LiveSite/workflow/fp3gajjn] for filelist[/usr/iw-home/tmp/LiveSite/workflow/fp3gajjn/cache.WebRoot.fp3gajjnfp3gajjo.filelist]
The deployment is a 2 tier deployment ie. base to middle tier and then middle tier to final servers. In the base tier and middle tier, the error recorded is as above. We dont have access to livesite runtime server so can't actually see the reason for failure.
I think its failing because of queueing issue. We added pendSessions="yes" in odbase.xml but of no use and I think pendSessions attribute is used to queue the deployments having the same name which in my case are different.
Does anyone know how to enable queueing in such a case?
Your help would be much appreciated.
Thanks,
Natasha.

Hi Experts,
Any updates on this issue?
Firenze
Can you have them send you receiver logs or open up control port (9173) and you may be able to add Target Server to OpenDeploy Admin and access the log files that way.
If you want to try to queue the deployment, have you looked at trying to gain control over how the OpenDeploy unique deployments are being created. Is it by creating a unique OpenDeploy conf at run time or using the OpenDeploy inst parameter?
