Is there a way to keep the original document creation date that is on the document being imported, instead of changing everything to the import date?

Has anyone written a custom script to get around this?

The creation date is written by the Server to mark the date of the creation of the document object, thus this field is not writable by the SDK.

To keep the associated physical file date with the document profile, you may use the custom date fields - or even the long and string fields, or the name-value pairs (which is returned by the Document.AdditionalProperties) - if it's a viable approach.
