WEM 8.1 - How to Restrict Ephox Code Tab access?

Raju_Dachepally

Hello Everybody,

We'd like to disable the "Code" tab in Ephox for all publishers except for the users in a Administrators group.
Please advise if this is possible, if so could you please let me know, how to implement this?

Thanks & Regards,
Raju Dachepally

What all functionality are available to users in Ephox is configured using a XML file specified in widget configuration.

If you generate this xml dynamically (using JSP) and change it based on current user type, then functionality you are looking for can be achieved.

Thanks for the reply Qutub. What part of the xml will do this task? I have seen the following setting for the source code control in the “vign-elj-vcmlinks-config.xml”.

Do you have any sample JSP which builds this xml? Do we need to configure this JSP in the presentation part of the “EditLive! for Java CCE” widget?

Thanks & Regards,

Raju,

I don’t think that setting will work there will probably will be multiple changes to file which needs to occur for completely hiding the code view of html from the user.

To begin with you definitely need to

<wysiwygEditor

tabPlacement="off"

</ wysiwygEditor>

As for the JSP to generate the XML should be deployed in a webapp from which you can access user information in session to build the logic you want.

Thanks Qutub,

So we need to generate the xml based on the user validation using the jsp and need to put generated xml somewhere in the file system and need to configure the same xml to the widget. Is my understanding correct?

Thanks & Regards,

Hello Qutub,

The widget reads a single XML configuration file from a file system. What would happen if two different users come into the system at the same time? Files would step on each other.

As I said earlier,You need a JSP to generate the XML and you should deploy it in a web application (on Weblogic) from which you can access user information in session to build the logic you want (activate or deactivate the tabs) for the user.

Thanks Qutub. After deploying the JSP as part of web app, how to call that JSP before a user opens the content item? Is it possible using the Content Editor JSP – URI of V7 mode?
