Enable / Disable of Custom Fields

Hi,

1) We use FileSite with Outlook
2) We have added a new Custom Command (menu item) in FileSite
3) In all the workspaces we need only 2 folders for business purpose
Folder 1 - Planning
Folder 2 - Testing
4) We have included Custom 16 & Custom 17 properties with text fields in New profile & Edit profile dialogs.

Our Scenario is:

1) If we select Folder 1 - Planning - Custom 16 & 17 properties should be enabled (by default) in Profile dialogs

2) If we select Folder 2 - Testing - Custom 16 & 17 properties should be disabled in Profile dialogs.

Needed:
We need VB.Net code for achieving our task.

I'd like to get clarification on your objective: are you looking to enable/disable those fields inside the new profile and edit profile dialogs to those documents contained in Folder1 and Folder2? If so, it looks like you should check for the folder then use SetAttributeValueByID to enable/disable those fields in NRS Scripting. In which case, it would be in VBScript. If it's something else, please explain in more details.

From what you're telling me, it sounds like you have a custom command to hijack import as well as edit. Is that correct? If so, I still don't see why you cannot use the SetAttributeValueByID - and pass in False to the last argument - to disable/gray-out the fields. Could you show me your code?

There isn't a way to hide the controls via the SDK API's.

Right, so, inside newprof.nrs and editprof.nrs, you should be able to check for the presence of the folder, then call the SetAttributeValueByID (to set the last method's argument to true or false) to enable/disable the fields when the specified folder has been selected. This should be done by catching the dialog's OnInitDialog or OnChange event.

It sounds like from your earlier response that you had tried this approach but it did not work for you. I'd like to see your NRS scripts that have the code to do this to see why it didn't work for you.
