I'm using iwsend_mail.ipl in a workflow for TS5.5.2 on Solaris. The external task executes and claims in the log file "Success sending Email". The only problem is that the recipient(s) never get the email.
It is possible that the IT people here have something strange going on with the smtp server. How would one begin fixing this problem?

Work with IT to track the messages being sent from the TeamSite server to the defined mail server (in iw.cfg).
The mail server appears to be accepting the connection otherwise you wouldn't be getting the "Success" message (which really means it handed the message off to the mail server successfully, there is no guarantee that it will ever get delivered).

A situation that can result in "Success sending Email" being reported is if either the recipient address or the sender's address is not valid. The SMTP server receives the request and then replies that it will not deliver the message. Unfortunately the Perl module Mail::Mailer does not report this as an error. It considers this to be a part of normal processing. The API does not provide any way to determine if the message really was accepted by the SMTP server.
The only way to debug this from the sending side is dig into the Mailer module, or send to another mail server. But as Fish suggested, it may be easier to start debugging on the SMTP server. See if its log has a record of your email attempt.

Thanks for the help. It turns out that the test box that I'm running on doesn't have smtp setup for mailing.
