Dynamically setting the list of reviewers in Review Task in WFM

I have a requirement to set the list of reviewers in a review task based on certain variables. Can this be done. Everytime, I create a review task I am having to set the list of reviewers during instantiation itself. Is there any way I can override this list with my dynamic list when the job actually starts? The global variable which is the environment where I want to deploy gets set by a cgi task before this review task is called.

Setting reviewers dynamically in workflow instantiation screen can possible with DataSource variable. Create a datasource variable that will show the list of users/reviewers. Declare it as a global variable. Declare another variable that contain the name of any datasource. Now create custom instantiation file of workflow and on the base of passed datasource name.
Now using FormAPI

IWDatasource & IWMap

you can show the list of users. For detail go through the Workflow Modeler User's Guide "Dynamic Call of Datasource" section.

Go ahead in this way if you face any problem then come with problem.

I don't think the above addresses what is being asked for.
If I understand the request - vids29 is looking to dynamically set the reviewers in a review task post-instantiation after a variable has been set via a CGI task script.

I think the answer is that you might be able to do it within the CGI Task script itself - but I'm not as familiar with WFM Review Task internals as I am with basic Group Task elements (those are reasonably trivially to alter the sharedby membership on)

If you enable debug-mode on your WFM and instantiate it sufficiently to get a job spec - what does the ReviewTask look like in the job spec?

Essentially, you provide a UI via a CGI Task script, the displays the list of potential reviewers (use whatever method you want to generate that list) and on Submit of that form, you need to capture the selected value(s) and then interact with the workflow to GetTaskByName() and then SetOwner(), or AddUser() / AddGroup() on the User Task or Group Task that follows the CGI Task.You have to write the CGI Task script interface as well as call the appropriate methods (Perl or Java) to modify the job yourself.

usually when my workflow depends on data collected after it was initiated, i use a combination of global, task, configurable and script variables and CSSDK to set things like reviewer name, task owner, deployment name, email address, target task.

i would say the easiest way in your case is to call a java class when you are ready to set the list of reviewers. your java class will set the values of some task variable or global variable which can be accessed from your reviewer task.

if you can be more specific on what variables your reviewers list depends on, i might be able to suggest something more specific.

Hi Chris, The external variable on which my set of reviewers depends is the environment where I want to deploy the files. This environment will be set in another CGI task which is the first task in my workflow. So based on that I need to set my list of reviewers and kick off my reviewer task. So far using Datasource I am able to set it statically only. Basically there are two or three servers to which the files need to be deployed like Integration, staging and production and each environment have different set of approvers and I am using the same workflow model to deploy to each of these environments. So how do I do this?

If you aren't going to use a CGI task to set the users (by setting the variablle names) then you will need a piece of code to loop through your list of reviewers and set the reviewer names. What I have done in the past is if I know the maximum number of reviewers, then the reviewers that I don't need get set to a predefined dummy id that a background job can use to automatically advance those If you always have a full list of reviewers, then you just need a code or task that sets the reviewer names.
