Hi,

I am trying to add a Group to a Community using this peace of code in jsp:

Could you tell if I am in the right way? What is wrong?

Hi Paulo,

I am not sure what exactly are the groups that you tried to add to readers role, essentially, it would add them all as members to the "All readers of <social group name> " and remove any other already existing readers.

However, there is an exception when you try to add "All group members of <social group name>" or "All Pending Members of <social group name> " to the role . These groups also would also be added to the role, but in the same hierarchy and not as members of "All readers of <social group name>". 301 is the expected response.

Can you please navigate to the social group collab object through browser, click on its access policy, and verify if the groups you mentioned are added as members/children of "All readers of <social group name> " or if they are seen directly mapped to the reader role.

Hi,

I did a test and this jsp page added just the last group of the list to the readers group. I need add all of them, but I see that always just the last one is added. Looks like there is a overlap keeping just one. My code is correct?

Hello,

The multiple groups that are to be added must be separated by space.

So, the following should work,

data.addParam("readers", "1.60.6901 1.60.4303");

When you do the following instead,

data.addParam("readers", "1.60.6901");

data.addParam("readers", "1.60.4303");

Only the most recent value is added to the map.

I added the Groups as you said, but, I faced another strange situation: When I added The Groups, automatically the status of Community is changed to private. Then I edited the Community and change to public. Right After the Groups that I added before just disapear!!! Could You help me?

Hello,

A top level community is public if the “All site / domain members user group” has at least the reader role in the group access policy and private otherwise.

A sub community is public if the “members of the parent group” has at least the reader role in the group access policy and private otherwise.

When a group is assigned a role on the community access policy, it is added to the corresponding implicit group. So adding “1.60.6901” and “1.60.4303” as readers on the community, removes all the existing users and groups from the implicit group “community readers” and adds the new groups.

When the visibility of the group is changed from private to public, all the added groups (1.60.6901 and 1.60.4303) are removed from the implicit group and the “All site / domain members user group” is granted the “readers” role.

Can you please tell me how is the community created and what is the initial policy on the community ?

Hello,

Looking at the code, this is how the SetCommunityRolesBrowserCmd works :

<![if !supportLists]>1. <![endif]>Get the new readers list, which in your code happens to be “1.60.6901” and “1.60.4303”

<![if !supportLists]>2. <![endif]>Revoke the “reader” privileges for all reserved groups, “admin” and “anonymous” users on the community. The reserved groups are “All members user group for site / domain”, “The community members user group”, “The Pending community members user group” for a top-level community

<![if !supportLists]>3. <![endif]>Set the new “unreserved” readers groups by adding them to the “community readers” group

Thus, if you want to assign new readers apart from those already existing, you will have to pass them all. So, the following should work :

data.addParam("readers", "1.60.6901 1.60.4303 1.60.11 1.59.2");

Assuming “1.60.11” is the OID of the “All Members User Group for default_domain” group.
