VFE automatically creates hyperlink

In both, 6.5 and 6.7, when a user types in

http://www.xyz.com

VFE recognizes the link and replaces it with

htttp://www.xyz.com

Does anyone know of a way to disable this behavior?

I believe there is.. Refer to the VFE developers guide.. I think, it should somewhere near to the autoclean option..
