sync portal environments

We are in the middle of upgrading our portal from 8.0 to 8.2.  Our users have made some portal changes(added/modified nav items, portlets, pages, etc).  I need to move these changes to our new enviroment.  Exporting the site and re-importing it in the new enviroment is not an option for us because we can not get the site to export properly.  Does anyone know how we can sync these two environments?

Hi Erich, Since you're moving between versions the 'standard' export site/import site doesn't work (you get an error message saying something about the different versions). There are usually three ways to do this:

1. Export individual components and import them into the new 8.2 portal (portlets, grids, styles, style types can be exported individually - but not pages/nav items which will need to be built manually in the 8.2 instance)

2. Export the 8.0 site then edit the manifest so that it seems like it is an instance of Portal 8.2 (tricky but does work).

3. Use the meta-store API to develop a migration script. Everything that defines a Portal site is stored (in one form or another) in the meta-store. This has been done before so there is code out there.

If you contact support you may be able to get some example scripts to do this...
