Search Index dissappeared

Last Friday I indexed a branch for search for the first time and everything was working when I left work. This morning (Monday) when I came into work and clicked search link we got the message "Branch not indexed for search" alert.

Only two things happen over the weeked:

1. Our server complted it's weekly auto reboot process on Sunday.

2. The permissins on the root folder where our search index is kept was change from 755 to 775. That is we issued the chmod 775 /local/interwoven /local/interwoven and our search index directory is in a subdirectory of the interwoven folder.
iw.index.agent.idxdir=/local/interwoven/search

Does anybody have any ideas of what happened or what to look for?


This is for TS 6.7.1 SP1 on Linux.

First thing you need to do is to check the log files to see if your search server and/or index server is down. Most likely one or both of those servers went down with the reboot. try to restart it and see if you still seeing that message. make sure that you follow the correct order in restarting those two servers else it wont work.

by the way , the log files you need to look at are iw.tsindex.log and iw.tssearch.log under log directory
