From the dearth of answers to other posts about fields, I am not too hopeful to see an answer but...

I need to put a CDATA tag around a field before I insert it into the DB. The field is 2 level deep in replicants.

I can get the filter to work for a single entry:

[/html]

That will change the 1st entry.

I have tried:

[html]

and

[/html]

but no luck. My current solution is to have 30 of these entries. A less than stellar choice. I also know I can write a Java preprocessor, but that seems to be overkill.

Thoughts ?

It's a little hard to tell from your posting - are you using actual <'s and >'s in your config or are you using <'s and >'s ?

I had to use < ; and > ; in the replace section to get the CDATA to work. That is not the issue, however. My question is how do I reference all objects (1-n) of a replicant.

/category/title did nothing

"all object (1-n)" - do you mean "each" instance as it is processed - or are you trying to consolidate all the instances of the replicant at once?

I am hoping to not have to have 30 different substitution fields because I am using a couple replicants.

DCR with 2 nested replicants. Each detail replicant maps to a row. So my current DCR (16 total objects out of a max of 3*10 or 30) is all that is in the table. When I push all the replicant Title fields, I want to wrap it with CDATA, which is why I use substitution. But it appears to work on only a single (hardcoded) field, and not a logical field. This would be like having to, in FormAPI, assigning an event handler to each instance of a replicant instead of the name (/Root/Cat/SubCat/Title).

I need to know the same exact thing, why is it so hard to understand.
I have a replicant with a common list. I want the value which is picked to be translated into an ID for the database. I have a unbound replicant so I cant really add X number of substitutions, which is riduculous for an enterprise class application.

I never found an answer. If I were you I would call IWOV support, *maybe* there is a way to do it that I have not found. If you get a positive answer, please post.

Otherwise you can write a preprocessor for DD. It is certainly a bigger pain than the substitution, but will work.
