iwsubmit.exe does submit content to staging

cdoloriert

Hi,

I tried the following

C:/Applications/Interwoven/TeamSite/bin/iwsubmit -x -u Y:\default\main\CompanyTalent\WORKAREA\MySite\Talent\Andrew-Heyward-Profile.html "Submitting file to STAGING"

C:/Applications/Interwoven/TeamSite/bin/iwsubmit -x -u /default/main/CompanyTalent/WORKAREA/MySite/Talent/Andrew-Heyward-Profile.html "Submitting file to STAGING"

However staging does not seem to update. This command is pretty straightforward so I don't know what can be wrong.

Any suggestions?

Thanks in advance.

If there is no message returned after submit command is run, it should submit. You can cross check the logs for any errors, submit.cfg, autoprivate.cfg
Are you able to submit any file at all in any other workarea?
Please state your environment details.

I get this after I run the iwsubmit command

Usage: iwsubmit [-h] [-v] [-s] [-w|-x] [-u] [-r] [-c global_comment] [-i info_comment] {vpath file_comment}+Usage: iwsubmit [-h] [-v] [-s] [-w|-x] [-u] [-r] [-c global_comment] [-i info_comment] -f file_name
-h displays this usage information.
-v displays this command's version number.
-s skip conflicts and locked files
-w overwrite all files. Files in STAGING but not in
src_area will be deleted
-x overwrite conflicts
-u unlock locked files
-r report on submitted files
-c global_comment comment to attach to submit event
-i info_comment second comment to attach to submit event
-f file_name file from which to read the vpath and file_comment
(use newline to separate vpath and file_comment)
(if file_name is -, stdin will be read)
vpath path to a file, directory, or workarea.
file_comment comment to attach to the file

I checked staging and nothing gets updated

if you are getting this message, it implies you are not running the submit CLT properly and hence, no submit is done.
Try to debug you submit CLT by:

cd to the iw-home\bin directory and run submit from there
use only -x flag
use single quotes for comments, etc

I guess the problem must be some typo.

hitc

you have to use single quotes for the comment, not double.

Well I copied it from the log, but what I actually did was

C:/Applications/Interwoven/TeamSite/bin/iwsubmit -x -u Y:\default\main\CompanyTalent\WORKAREA\MySite\tale nt\Employee01-Profile.html 'Submitting file to STAGING'

By removing -u didn't make a difference.

Any other suggestions?

You may have a problem with dash(es), something like ...Employee01-Profile... "may" get interpreted as a fragment with invalid -P Flag.

Try to quote both parameters and use only double-quotes! Like this:
C:/Applications/Interwoven/TeamSite/bin/iwsubmit -x -u "/default/main/CompanyTalent/WORKAREA/MySite/Talent/Andrew-Heyward-Profile.html" "Submitting file to STAGING"

I tried pushing the dcr this time.

C:/Applications/Interwoven/TeamSite/bin/iwsubmit -w -u Y:/default/main/CompanyTalent/WORKAREA/MySite/templatedata/People/Talent/data/Employee01-Profile "Submitted using Workflow"

And it worked.

Thank you!
