Unable to connect to the database

Hi,

            The credentials of database that i configured during the installation of OpenText WEM has been changed. I am not able to connect to the database. How can i configure the database connection in OpenText WEM ?

Be sure to backup the Vignette install directory and V8.0 system tables before attempting to change the password.  

This is to ensure you can get back to a known state.

 

1. Change the database password using cfgedit:

 

   a. Start cfgedit:

 

      cfgedit -h <host>:<port> -u <adminid> -p <adminpassword>

 

   b. Navigate to the DATABASE_PASSWORD variable:

 

 /vcm-vgninst/cdsvcs/stage-mgmt/cds-mgmt/resources/Databases/AppSvcsRes/jdbc/

 

Note:  There may be other resources defined other than AppSvcsRes.  While in

the Databases folder, do an "ls" to list out all of them.  If there are more,

inspect them to see if they need to be changed as well.

 

   c. Change the DATABASE_PASSWORD setting:

 

      set DATABASE_PASSWORD <yournewpassword>

 

   d. Navigate to the DATABASE_PASSWORD variable that V7Tools uses:

 

      /vcm-vgninst/vcms/dbinfo/DATABASE_PASSWORD

 

Note:  Depending on the VCM version, this may be under /vcm-vgninst/vcms/jdbc

instead of dbinfo.

 

   e. Change the DATABASE_PASSWORD setting:

 

      set DATABASE_PASSWORD <yournewpassword>

 

2. Dump the config out to a text file and search for DATABASE_INSTANCE to

ensure that all instances that need changing have been found (repeat step 1 for

any remaining passwords in need of changing).

 

To do this, follow these steps:

 

   a. Change directory to the /OpenText/Content/8_0/bin directory. 

   (To connect to the Configuration Services, cfgedit must be run from this directory.)

 

   b. cfgedit -h host:port -u admin -p passwd

 

   c. At the prompt, enter the following commands:

 

     >cd /

     >ls -v -L -r -f /tmp/config.out

     >exit

 

   The resulting file will be located in the path specified from the -f flag.

 

3. Check to make sure all the cfgagents are running.

 

4. Do a push from the /vcm-<yourvcm> path and the /cs path. Do a push in each

   directory. For example:

 

   /vcm-vcm1>push

   /cs>push

 

5. Change the database password for the two Connection Pools in your

   WebLogic configuration.

 

6. Change the database password at the database.

 

7. Stop and start the Admin Server, VCM Server, and Config Agent.

The following process nodes need to be restarted if they are currently running:

        Content Deployment Agent - mgmt (/vcm-vgninst/cdsvcs/stage-mgmt/cds-mgmt/cdagents/cda-mgmt)

        Application Services (/vcm-vgninst/cdsvcs/stage-mgmt/cds-mgmt/as)

[<hostname>:27110]:/vcm-vgninst> cd /cs

[<hostname>:27110]:/cs> push

[<hostname>:27110]:/cs> cd

 

***> Connection Pools

 

Change the password in the App Server Connection Pools:

 

- For Vignette runtime services:

 

  Navigate through vgndomain, Services, JDBC, Data Sources, vignette.jdbc.VgnNonTxDataSource, 

  and vignette.jdbc.VgnTxDataSource>Connection Pool tab:  

  You will have to set the new password here for your DB user.

 

    Apply.  Don't restart anything yet.

 

 

***> Finish

 

Change password in database server.

 

Stop VCM Server, Admin Server, and cfgagent.

 

Start Admin Server, cfgagent, and VCM Server.
