Editin an existing DCR

Hi All,

I want to parse all the existing DCR in my workarea and replace all the paths within a DCR starting with /bbsccms/(.*) to /bplacms/(.*).

I am using the below code to do so.

When i try to open the edit the DCR from teamsite i get the below error

Couldn't parse DCR bytes into DOM [unable_to_parse_dcr ]:Attribute name "Security" associated with an element type "item" must be followed by the ' = ' character.

I compared the orignal DCR and the new DCR and found that the new DCR seems to have corrupted.

I have uploaded rge orignal and the modified DCR.

Request someone to please let me know where am i going wrong?

I did not read much of the code, but to me it looks like

my $rootnode = TeamSite: Smiley Very Happy

CRnode->new(@mod_content);

should not work.

Also, regardless of this - WHY do you need to have a DCRNode used in this context?

You treat your DCR as a text file, so you save it also as a text file (UTF8 or whatever it is)

'new' Method of this package actually has 3 Constructors, third one has a signature new($val, $ord, $type, @att).
So, the command you've mentioned will *work* - sort of. It won't give any run-time error, etc. The result however will be
very different from what manish is (probably) expecting!

Just trying to be exact. I certainly agree, in the described scenario there is no need to parse/serialize DCR String
after it has been already modified. Read / Change / Write - that's it

As has already been stated, ignore the fact that you are dealing with a DCR -- at least to begin with, and figure out how you would write code to change:[indent]This bbsccms should not change but this /bbsccms/something should change, and this another/bbsccms/ item should change too.
This text also has a/bbsccms/path that should change - however, it is unclear if this/bbsccms one should change because it does not end with a trailing slash[/indent]to: [indent]This bbsccms should not change but this /[color=red]bplacms/something should change, and this another/bplacms/ item should change too.
This text also has a/bplacms/path that should change - however, it is unclear if this/bbsccms one should change because it does not end with a trailing slash[/color][/indent]If you can correctly code for that, then the only thing you have to be concerned about with the DCRs is whether the EAs on the DCRs are maintained after you've written out the modifications - if the EAs are there, you're done; if they're not there, you have a bit more coding to do.
Now - do you want to try again to write the code correctly?

If it does work for you - see if you can figure out what difference(s) made it work - so that you can learn from it.

The complete string was not getting parsed, since there where multiple lines and inorder for that to happen along with the option g in the regex expression the option s and m are also required.

Treat string as multiple lines. That is, change ``^'' and ``$'' from matching at only the very start or end of the string to the start or end of any line anywhere within the string,

s
Treat string as single line. That is, change ``.'' to match any character whatsoever, even a newline, which it normally would not match.
