return value to FormAPI from CGI

Hi friends,

I am working on string Seacrh and Replace functionality in the existing DCR
for this i have follows the following steps :-

1] I am calling a CGI onCallout event which works only for existing DCR in edit mode, which prompt for "search string" and "replace string" input.

2]After collecting input , on submit its call another CGI, which parse the DCR and search the string.

3] I am able to search the string successfully , Now i am stuck at how to return the final replaced string from 2nd CGI to formAPI to set the updated item value.

If you any of you have done this or you have any other process to achieve this please suggest me.

Your help will be appreciated.

hey i hve try the same [api = parent.getScriptFrame();] but its not returning value and getting jvascript error. Actually its working for 1st CGI , but i have return value from 2nd CGI.

'Unterminated String constant' error in javascript , when i am passing perl variable to JavaScript Variable, i think its Javascript doesn't accepts new lines chracter.

i hve to escape all kind of spl charachter which is not a perfect solution coz a string may contains any kind of spl char which javascript doesn't accept.

anyone could you please suggest me how to resolve it.

I asked you to post your code. Your descriptions of the problem aren't really good enough. Please post the scripts.

My suggestion would be to use

[PHP]$val = CGI::escape($val); [/PHP]

in Perl before writing it to your HTML document/Javascript variable.

You can then use the JS unescape function to reverse the escaping.
