PT Compilation Error | Return Code: 5

I get the below error when i try to generate a page from a DCR using PT, I see the below entry in the servletd out log, has anyone seen this before? any pointers? what does this return code indicatE?

a) I can compile the PT from the command line without any error;
b) I could generate the output html page without any issue from the command line - using iwpt_compile.

Env: TS671sp1, RH Linux ESA, I m an OS user.

Is this happening with a particular user or everyone? What is the users role?

I haven't tried with other users; this is currently not exposed to/not available for other users and is in the dev.

Have you gone through all the release notes for 671 SP1 with regard to configuration of iwutild and iw.cfg?

you might need to make some changes to iwutild.cfg for the impersonation.
Read the Releasenotes you will get the answer there .

interesting part is templates in the other branches work without any issue; these templates that work in the other branches are almost similar, ran by same user (me), some of the templates are even same. the permission/role on both the branches are also same.

You need to debug your templating.cfg file or attach it

1) Are you able to preview the generated html file?
2) check if you have a preview_history_limit=value flag in the iw.cfg .

This happens to me once in a while. Net result is that the domain controller is unable to authenicate the user and I see an error like this in utild.log:

[Thu Jul 10 14:35:45 2008] Error: Impersonation failure user= DOMAIN\andy; argcount=13; errCode=1327; cmd=D:\Interwoven\iw-home....

So I wait for a half hour and then it works again

Highly unlikely since no one knows what the real issue is. It could be environment, it could be data, it could be bad programming, it could be TeamSite.

During this Return code:5 issue, we would be able to generate the html files, but the users would not be able to preview the html file.

During a preview, a temporary zz_tst_n_username file will be created for that particular content. By default there are two of these zz_tsts files that are overwritten in rotation.

This issue may be due to one of the zz_tst_preview files being locked. If this is the case it would prevent the preview engine from replacing it.

An easy way to test this is to increase the number of zz_tst files that the application keeps and re-test.

there was a write permission issue on the particular location where i tried to output the tpl generated xml/html file. Once i fixed the permission - I did not get the "return code: 5" issue. Thanks.
