If you clone, or setup a new template it is possible to link to the same portal menu item.
In the past I always thought that the template to portal menuitem should be 1-to1.
Looking at the DPM logs I can see that the code finds the correct template each time since it looks at what template is assocaited with the "Channel Page".
In the example that I have some of the regions on the cloned template have been removed, I can see that they are still trying to be processed, but since there is no DPM component in that region it simply renders the default region view which only takes approx 3ms.
So is there any reason not to have multiple templates against the same menuitem, is it best practice one way or the other, etc.
