dircmp usage on IFS

Hi all,
Currently we have a requirement to identify the differences across file contents under different branches. Our system has release specific branches (Jan release, Feb release, Mar release etc), authors work in these branches parallel on same or different files. On the specific release live date, differences needs to be identified between the files across future release branches and merged properly.
Initially we tried using iwcmp to find the file level changes, but due to lot of file movements across branches, the results are not fully satisfactory. Currently we are determined to use dircmp.
I would like to know, any issues related to use of dircmp on team site file system and also do I need to use dircmp with /default or /iwmnt/default or /.iwmnt paths.
