using WFM & Datasources - Urgent Help pls!

Is it possible to create a datasource and set it in the "Description" of a Review Task?, I need to extract an extended attrb of an attached DCR and make it show in the task Description of a Review Task. Is this possible with WFM Datasources or is there any alternative to this. Please Help - Vj

i think what you need is acheivable, you will have to write your java code to extract the EAs then use CSSDK to get to the reviewer task then you should be able to set the description of the task. you might have to run you java code as an external task right before the reviewer task. those are my initial thoughts and let's what the experts on here will say.

Thanks for the response Chris, I actually tried using an external task it was perl IPL got the external task to set the task description but it shows as a task comment but not as the task description. I had some default task description for the review task on WFM, and that is what showed up. I removed the task descrption from WFM and left it empty but that didnt help either. anyother suggestions?.

Did you use TeamSite::WFtask's SetDescription() method, or SetComment() method? The first one should do what you want, the second one should do what you're seeing.

I actually did not do $workflow->GetTaskByName($taskname) and was just trying to set the descrption using $task->SetDescription();

fixed that and it worked. Now I am able to get WFM variables into external tasks and reset them using $workflow and $task.

However going back to my original question, can a datasource be called from within a Task [like in the task description] to do what I have been trying to do?.
NOT being called in the instantiation screen and just within a Task? or can the scope of a datasource be limited to a task alone and not the entire wf?

Not sure I totally follow the question here. Datasources are only available on the instantiation screen.

However, if you use the pre or post processor framework of workflow models, you should be able to do what you are asking.
