Event on Teamsite import API

Hi,
I have a requirement to setup few EA to the documents as soon as those are imported to Teamsite. I would like to know, is there any event on pre/post import, that I can work with.

Env: TS 6.5 SP2 on windows server 2003.

Check for a CreateFSE event it will get triggered when a new FSE (file system element) is created.

Thanks for your input.
I read about the CreateFSE event and the required iwatxxx.ipl files.
I tried following.
Made following entries under section [iwserver] in iw.cfg and reset the service
log_createfse=on
log_modifyfse=on

Then, created a test.ipl to log in a file.
Run the following command
iwat.exe CreateFSE C:\test.ipl
And tried to create/import file into TS area, but the script is not getting invoke. Am I missing something here?

I am afraid you will need to seach on this. I used them on a Solaris server and on Unix you needed (or still do) to edit iwwa.cfg.

Check the event log & see if that event is being triggered first.

I added create FSE to mine and saw this in the event log:

[Thu Jan 08 16:47:38 2009] vmware2k\andy master CreateFSE \default\main\DotCom\WORKAREA\Content \Images\Copy of ThisIsAVeryLongFilenameThisIsAVeryLongFilenameThisIsAVeryLongFilename.jpg

So it is being logged

BTW, can test.ipl run without iwperl ? Is your shebang correct ?

Also, check iwutild.log for errors trying to run the script.

The event is getting triggered. The CreateFSE event is logged in iwevents.log file. The shebang is correct and the script runs fine.
I am not sure, is there any other config file that I need to update for this. I will try to search more.
When, I run the command iwat.exe CreateFSE C:\test.ipl, it does not show any error. But I do not see any process getting invoked after this.
Is there any way I can confirm that iwat.exe execute successfully.
Also, I did not find the iwutild.log file on the server, is it getting created for the later versions of 6.5 sp2.

yea, iwutild.log may have come in 6.7 (my test was on 6.7.2)

I assume iwlsat lists the trigger ?

I am afraid I do not have a 6.5 server to test it on. I know they work, I used them in 6.5 at another client and when we worked together we used this exact trigger (on Unix) in 5.5.2

iwat - To Register Event Handler
iwlsat - To List registered iwat programs
iwrmat - To Remove registered iwat programs

Remove your registration and try to re-register with the full-blown perl interpreter Path.
iwat.exe CreateFSE "<Your iwhome>\iw-perl\bin\iwperl.exe C:\test.ipl"

Note double quotes, they are mandatory with this Format

I believe that's at least one of the issues here - on Windows - I'm pretty sure you need to do:

iwat.exe CreateFSE "IWHOME\iw-perl\bin\iwperl.exe C:\test.ipl"

Tried all the suggestions. The only registered event is now
ID: 8129923 "CreateFSE" /iw-home/iw-perl/bin/iwperl.exe C:/test.ipl
But, no luck. getting really hard.

Not having 6.5 the amount of help I can provide is limited.

Now how did you decide the trigger is not kicking off ? trim your ipl down to open a log, write, close and end.

It was my mistake. It was working since I removed and registered it again. I just made mistake in testing it before.

Is it possible to alert the user and deny to import some document with import link?
I do not want to customize the TS import functionality as it is used by many applications. The other option would be to prepare own import functionality (may be a custom menu) with my requirements. But, again here I would have to restrict the user from using the OOTB import link.
Could you pls share some thoughts about this, if you have some idea?
