Hi All,

I have a situation where I would like to customize to be locale based.

For example:
<inline command="iw-home/iw-perl/bin/iwperl /apps/iw-home/apps/InlineFile_<locale_name>.ipl"/>

Basically, I am looking for the change in path dynamically.

what would be the appropriate action that can fulfill this.

I would appreciate your suggestions and contribution to this.

I think you got my requirement differently. All I need is to change the path of .ipl file dynamically. If my data-category (for example:"xyz_en-US"), in this case inline command should be somthing like:

<inline command="iw-home/iw-perl/bin/iwperl /apps/iw-home/apps/InlineFile_en-US.ipl"/>

Later, if I want it to rollout for UK (xyz_en-UK), in this case, it should be

<inline command="iw-home/iw-perl/bin/iwperl /apps/iw-home/apps/InlineFile_en-UK.ipl"/>

If I think this is achievable through IPL but unfortunately, I am unable to apply the logic.

When you say "change the path of .ipl dynamically" - do you mean through user-interaction (based on a value in a field somewhere else in the DCT) - or externally controlled (e.g.: based on the locale of the server or the name of the branch or something)?

In either case - you could probably best do this by creating a wrapper for your inline such that script-A (referenced in the DCT) did whatever checking it needed to determine the desired locale, and then called another script (or handle it internally to the wrapper script) that produced the proper locale-drive output for the DCT.

It might help further suggestions / discussions if you provided a bit more of a use-case surrounding why you want to do this and how you envision it working (not the call to the inline, but the results of the inline)

Hi Ghoti,

"Change of path dynamically" means, based on the locale name of the data-category, path should dynamically calling the specific ipl file located from the server.

Idea is that whenever I migrate the same data-type for different data-category, I should not be manually editing datacapture.cfg for changing the path of the ipl.

Above mentioned is how I need the ipl to be called dynamically.

In case I am not clear to elaborate, please do let me know, but as of now this is th only requirement I have.

i dont think there is way to dynamically change the inline command but you can achieve what you want (fill out the list with options) using callServer onFormLoad.

That is a bad requirement. Go back to who ever asked you for it and ask for a detailed use case.

There are basically 2 approaches, if the "dynamic" portion can be determined on init, then you can user ghoti's suggestion of a wrapper to decide which one to use (like different users, workarea, branches, etc). However if this happens after init, then you will have complex formapi

And sometimes you need to just say no. Look for another alternative, if it is choice #2.
