Cannot clone Innovate Sample Site in WEM 8.5

After Installation of WEM 8.5 and Portal 8.2 and configuring the Innovate Site, the Innovate Site is visible and working fine.

But I cannot clone it. It says:

Unable to run the site creation process.
There are no Portal Sites configured on Application Instance 'default'.

This issue is reproducible when there are no sites configured on portal side and trying to clone the innovate site.Please log a ticket for the same

For now,the workaround would be ,create atleast one site on the default app instance and then try to clone the innovate site

I have created an enabled 2 sites in the Server console. They show up there but they don't show up in the content work space. And still not able to clone Innovate Site. Do I need to set the default Instance? How to do this?

It looks to me that you make confusion between portal sites and Content Workdpaces sites....

We have 2 Application Instances, "Portal Preview" and "VgnPreviewServer". In the dropdown list of the Application Instance property of a site also the "default" shows up.

Though we have any no of instances,the default app instance shows up because it is default regsitered with dsm/dpm
When a site is created in portal it would not automatically reflect in the content workspaces. You have to create a site (making sure that the name of each Web Experience Management site is identical to the DNS name of its corresponding Portal site) in workspaces for that particular appinstance). Then you can clone the innovate site without any problem.For more information,please refer to guides,
