task on retry mode

I have an external task in the workflow which is in retry mode since last 10 days. I checked this task with "iwgetwfobj taskid", I could not find anything wrong. How do I figure out whats wrong with this task ?
I can remove this task with "iwrmjob", but I want to find whats wrong with this task ? This workflow is in use for 4 months and there have not been issues.

I checked the script using "iwperl -wc perlscript.pl" , there is no warning message.

How to check whats the problem with this task ?

What you want to say with "retry mode"?? Is it not doing anything or going to be in recursive loop?? For the latter, you can view event or error log as what is happening behind?

windows server 2003, TS6.7.1 SP2

In iwjoberrors, error is
"Could not run I:\iw-home/iw-perl/bin/iwperl.exe
I:\iw-home/httpd/iw-bin/Media/doesnotrun.ipl for task 16543865; retrying in 1 minute"

in iwtrace.log file, error is
"[Thu Jan 08 03:12:51 2009] Execution of command I:\iw-home/iw-perl/bin/iwperl.exe failed (Error: 2000004) for user: aim\r.kumar"

Any help, where to start looking at ?

Yes, the task is in recursive mode.

"Retry" Mode has nothing whatever to do to recursion. Somebody designed your WF with the External Task retry attribute set to true.

In Windows "retry" may happen when WF Engine can not spawn an ET process, usually because of the low Swap memory. It never
happens if External Task command gets executed. From this point forward it's your responsibility to code proper call Backs, etc...

Our branch structure is like this
//servername/store1/main/department/branch_name/sub_branch/development/WORKAREA/general,temporary/

general and temporary are the two workareas under WORKAREA.
In general, there are different folders.
When I select general or temporary and try to "submit", submit button is greyed out.
When I go in the general or temporary and select folder, then I can submit that folder.

So is it like that, I can not select a workarea to submit ? In order to submit all the content of the workarea, I have to go in the workarea and select all the content to submit ?

In the log files, it shows that "general" is submitted in the workflow "unlock"

Did you ran this command from command prompt directly and see what message are you getting?

I:\iw-home/iw-perl/bin/iwperl.exe I:\iw-home/httpd/iw-bin/Media/doesnotrun.ipl

You can also give jobid,taskid and workarea as arguments to this [get it from workflow tab of TS UI]..
