Teamsite default installation directory
phd
What is the standard installation directory for Teamsite? The default is "C:\Program Files\Interwoven", But I was told in training not to install in Program Files as the space between Program and Files causes problem with regular expressions.
Then I have seen people installing in c:\iw-home and some installing in c:\interwoven.
What is the standard followed by interwoven?
Is this issue going to solved in future releases?
Regards
Pawan

Who told you that? An instructor, or another student?
As shown in the
TeamSite Administration Guide
, the default location
for TeamSite program files
on
Windows
is
C:\Program Files\Interwoven\TeamSite
, but you may select an alternate location.
The "Program Files" directory is a very bad convention on Windows that was established by Microsoft, because both the space and of the length (over 8 chars) create problems for command execution. You will often need to put quotes around a path that includes this directory name, but you will have the same problem with any other Windows program, even those from Microsoft.
Some people (particularly developers) will install to C:\iw-home just because it is easier. That should not be an issue for a production server.

We do have a note in our system admin training course to this effect:
"It’s a good idea NOT to install into the “program files” directory, since the space in this pathname will complicate all scripts written on this server."
The TeamSite 5.5.2 for Windows Admin guide says, on page 28:
"This directory is often installed in a location with a shorter
path, such as C:\iw-home . With some system configurations, this shorter path is necessary to allow configuration of the iwperl and CGI areas."
Additionally, KB articles 45445, 46127, 1370 all indicate that spaces in the install path must be handled specially.
It's for these reasons we have the note in the admin training course.
