can workflow be initiated automatically?

Hi,

I have the following path ~\Portals\0\MyContent\Recruitment\XML and I wanted to know if there is anyway the workflow can automatically be initiated everytime there is a change in any of the files in the XML folder. This is basically because the change in any of the files in XML folder will be done remotely via web service, and this will have to be pushed or replicated to the destination folder on the test replication or production server without anybody manually initiating the workflow.

There is nothing OOTB that will do all this for you - but there are pieces available OOTB that you can utilize as part of your own custom code to achieve this.

If you're using WFTs - it's generally easier to initiate them via CSSDK or CLTs (iwwft_compile.ipl, iwjobc, etc). WFMs should be able to be initiated via the iwmodelc but based on recent threads, it isn't clear that it provides sufficient flexibility to do so.

Once you have that part figured out - then you need to write some code to perform the monitoring and based on circumstances call the other code to invoke the workflow.

In addition to all of that - the directory path you showed does not appear to be within TeamSite - and TeamSite workflows can only have TeamSite files attached to them - so not only do you need to monitor the directory, but when you find something there - you probably need to copy / move the file(s) into the appropriate directory within the appropriate branch in TeamSite before attempting to initiate the job.

This is known as SMOP - a small matter of programming.
