Trouble implementing a custom web service in workflow 4

Third time trying to post. Apparently, this forum doesn't like files getting uploaded.

Hi,

I'm trying to implement a custom RPC-style Axis 1.1 web service with an automated activity in workflow. It's a simple web service that just takes a string, adds Hello World and returns a string. Unfortunately, it throws an exception (below).

Here is the error you get when trying to upload a file:

Content Server Error: Error adding version to 'myservice.wsdl.txt'.

Hi Eric,

The NullPointerException is happening when we get the WSDL and try to match up the parts with the service def. There is probably just a mismatch in one of the port names or something like that. How did you generate the service def xml? We have a generator that will create the shell service def xml based on your wsdl. It removes some of the manual steps. Just point your browser at: http://<vcmhost>:<vcmport>/wfConsole/GenerateServiceDef.jsp . There is a place to paste in your wsdl url and it will generate the shell service def based on the wsdl. Then you can modify it and add any vcm specific stuff like the program task name and any argument comments.

Thanks. That's what I was thinking. Unfortunately, I did use /wfConsole/GenerateServiceDef.jsp to generate the Program Task def. Is there some way to test that Program Task def directly? I know the service is working ok because I have a local test that invokes it with no problems.

I have also faced this issue, You can try with replace all ChannelService with MyChannelService in generated xml from /wfConsole/GenerateServiceDef.jsp .

You service will work fine from external call but when it come through WEM it will not work because its expecting portName and serviceName in URL should be same

Hi there,

Thanks to Eric's patience, we have escalated an issue found with uploading attachments to forum posts.

While our techs work to resolve the issue, here are a couple of workarounds:

When you want to add an attachment to a post, click on "upload" and click "finish" - even though the wizard doesn't confirm that it was successful
Or, you can email the forum with attachments: v7webcontentmanagement@elinkkc.opentext.com
