moving to solaris OS from windows server

I am on a project, where platform is moved from wondows to solaris.
Its so hard to work on solaris. I dont understand reason for working on solaris. Editing files is no where close in easeness in compare to windows.

Can someone tell me, whats the common advantages for moving to solaris from windows ?

Funny, I think the same thing about windows. Do you really need anything besides ssh and vi?

Our system went live last labor day. The one and only reboot has been to tweak a kernel setting which required a reboot.

Yea but how important is that compared to a GUI for admin tools. Of course I want an admin for my server who needs to use a GUI and connot figure out a command line arguement.
