troubleshoot unresponsive site

Hi,

what can be reasons for website becoming totally unresponsive even though vcm and vap servers are running fine. there's enough space as well. autonomy services, configuration and deployment agents are running fine.

Is there any procedure to pinpoint the root cause of this problem?

Hello,

There are a good number of things that can cause unavailability. The most usual are:

<![if !supportLists]>· <![endif]>JVM Memory exhaustion

<![if !supportLists]>· <![endif]>CPU exhaustion

<![if !supportLists]>· <![endif]>DB locking

<![if !supportLists]>· <![endif]>DB connection exhaustion

<![if !supportLists]>· <![endif]>App server thread exhaustion

... but there are a few more.

I would suggest that you collect thread dumps and logs during the unavailability and open a ticket with Support. (not necessarily in that order).

Something worth pointing out is that site is behaving randomly, ex it runs fine with the same number of sessions at a time but stops responding at some other time with the same number of sessions.

DB is executing queries, can we narrow down to something considering this behaviour.?
