How to integrate DCR in component ?

I am creating a new component. I need to include DCR (or DCT) ijn this component. I am confused with the pdf manual aboutr wheer to start from ?

I am leaving AppearanceXSL as default. To include DCR or an image in the component, is that part of AppearanceXML or contentXML ?

As per my understanding , in AppearanceXML we can just select font or color. Importing data or image or DCR is all a part of contentXML , is that right ? But in manual, some of the things are included in aoppearanceXML and thats where Im getting confused.

Please explain to clear this confusion.

Whenever you want to include data from an DCR,it will always be part of Content.xml.By using DCR DATUM TYPE you can get all the data of an DCR.

Now,how that data is going to be presented or manipulated or we can say in simple way is that how that data is going to use in that component.All these tasks are being maintained and done by Appearance.xml.

Appearance.xsl will be the file that hanldes the presentation of your component and the data used in that component.

Read the manuals ,it will give you a clear picture.
