Task cannot be finished

Hi,

When I try to accept a task, I get

Task xxxxxxx cannot be finished: Approval Task (xxxxxxx)

I belong to the group that's assigned to the workarea and that group has full control over it.

Any ideas where the error can be?

Much more information is needed - but to start with - what kind of task is "Approval Task"?

My guess is that it is a grouptask - yes? If so, are you a member of the shared-by list for that grouptask (either by group name, or by explicit user name -- note that this is not the same thing as the group permissions on the workarea, though they are related because you would need to have some permissions on the workarea in order to take ownership of a task to which you've been granted rights)

If you are a member of the shared-by list for the grouptask - have you explicitly taken ownership of the task? You need to take ownership before you can transition it.

Actually it's a user task. I want to use a User Task instead of a Group task and I want to be able to assign owernship a particular username or group name. I'm using the Workflow Modeler

Any suggestions on how to do it?

Well, you obviously can't assign a group to a user task (it's a user task, not a group task). If you want to assign a user, click on the task, then find the properties view (if you can't see it, go to View->Properties), then find the property "Owner", then click on the little box to the right of it in the "Value" column, then assign the proper value of the user you want to own the task.

I'm guessing this is not going to help you much, but your question didn't help us much either. Try being a bit more descriptive of what you are trying to do. And if you really are trying to assign a group to a user task, well, you can't.

Hi,

Due to business requirements, I only need to set one user to be approver, so I found out a way to set only one user to be the task owner. I created a configurable variable in the worrkflow and set its value to be the approver and when I ran the job the task was successfully done.
