Backing store on Network Share

I know it is possible to place a backing store on a network share, but can I point to that backing store via a UNC path or do I have to map a drive to the store? This is a Windows system.

I believe it needs to be a UNC path because mapped drives don't exist when the server is booted - you may need to manually fix the registry - I believe it's

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Interwoven\TeamSite\iw-store
